Episode Summary

In this episode of The Data Standard, host Darren Kaplan talks about working remotely with DanMcKinley, Senior Director, Data Science & Analytics at Mozilla. With an ongoing pandemic, we can see remote work becoming a paradigm across industries, data science included. Even the companies that didnt support it now have a fully-fledged remote work operation with infrastructure and policies to support and facilitate it. At the same time, not all workers cope with the current situation in the same way. Some find it more stressful, while others seem to thrive in the new remote work environment. Other viable ideas to cope with the pandemic and the restrictions include diving deeper into the work or finding a new hobby. On the other hand, this situation isnt going to last forever. Whats going to happen when people need to go back to the office? Is it going to be a hybrid setup? Is working remotely going to be an option? How will the policies change? Will the remote-first become a new standard? Tune in with Darren Kaplan and Dan McKinley to hear their take on working remotely and find out their personal experience with the lockdown and remote work.
