Annual index finds AI is ‘industrializing’ but needs better metrics and testing

Stanford releases an annual AI Index. Three of the major themes coming out of this years report are that China has taken on the leadership mantel for total AI research citations, AI in an increasingly common topic in the US Congress, and that fewer AI startups are receiving funding. There are currently 32 countries with published AI strategies and 22 countries with strategies in development.
