Cody Allen

Data Scientist / Sr. Principle Engineer at Solar Turbines

I am currently working as Data Scientist / Sr. Principle Engineer at Solar Turbines. I hold a Ph.D. in Engineering Science (Mechanical Engineering) with an emphasis in control and optimization theory. In addition, I hold a Master's degree in applied mathematics and a Bachelor's degree in Finance. At Solar, I am part of the remote monitoring group, where we perform engineering analysis, simulation and analytics on data generated by IoT systems, power plants and compressor stations utilizing gas turbines as the prime driver. I mainly develop algorithms and software in, Python, Matlab and occasionally C++ to monitor the health of machines in the field as well as to optimize operation. My primary interests lie in the intersection of classical physics, optimization theory and control. Utilizing hybrid, physics and machine learning models to predict the future is always fascinating and often turns out to be useful for business.
